I'm not feeling particularly down this morning, just waking up early, but I thought to change my "time is piling up, we struggle and we scrape," livejournal heading. Given that it's the DNC, I looked up the word "hope" on bobdylan.com to see all of the ways that Bob has used it in his songs.

I found, "Last thoughts on Woody Guthrie," a poem that he read at the end of one of his shows back in the day. I used to be able to recite it from memory, and can still follow along with it pretty well, even though it's a long poem. I had kind of forgotten about it, but it's been good to have on my side in the past if I've ever been feeling blue or messed up or like I'll never make it, so I thought I would share it here, even though I know that no one on LiveJournal ever feels sad. :/

It actually gets cut off on bobdylan.com, but it's printed up on a Bob Dylan wiki (which I didn't even know existed). Someone even took the time to put together a youtube video with pictures going along to Bob's spoken recording of it, and it has some neat moments, and it's nice to hear Bob's voice go along with it, but somehow I it's better for me to just read it. Or to just hear it.

I will have to be sure to keep this one around for a while again. Inside of a box that says, "Break in case of sadness," or I'll compress it in a red metal canister and call it a blues extinguisher. Or maybe not a blues extinguisher, but maybe a new invention that will make me stop itching so bad. I'll have to let that one sit for a while, I think.

Ok, apparently it is time for me to end this blog posting. It's a good poem to read at the start of the day, though.
