NY Trip days

yesterday i explored the new york city transit museum while william went to his dance classes. i spent a good deal of time reading up on how they dug the transit tunnels. it was both impressive and sad to think of how dangerous and grueling the work was for the people who did the work. i checked out the transit museum store, but didn't purchase any new york transit map silk boxers. later william told me that this could be a good pick up line. "are you lost, do you need help finding your way home?"
william's classes ended early, but i just explored some of the neighborhoods rather than head back to his place. so many small shops selling so many little wares. i went in to the brooklyn tabernacle church because they were going to have a free gospel music performance with cece winans, but as i waited they played some crappy gospel music on the video monitors, and i started to think that i might be hearing some song like, "not natural," about teh gays or something, so i split before the show started.
even though i ambled about, i was able to find my way back to the right trains as necessary. good thing i have the gps in my head. i think i got a decent sense of direction from my dad, if that's possible to inherit.
later we met up in williamsburg, and were surrounded by hipsters. we had a drink, and some food, and met up with joel, a former ymca coworker. it was so good to see him. he had been going through some tough times recently, but seemed in good spirits when we were out. we went on a public transit sky tram across part of the city, sat on a park bench and chatted, went out to an Oscar Wilde bar in joel's hood and just hung out until 3am.
we got 'hit on' by a guy who said he wrote for the new 90210 show. i put 'hit on' in quotes just because he didn't really hit on us so much as talk to us incessantly. it was amusing for a bit, but the novelty quickly wore off as i think we all just wanted to talk with each other, and not be bugged by some overly-talkative and flirtatious stranger.
we slept over at joel's place rather than take a cab back to william's gangsta hood, and had some brunch this morning, had our hugs, and said goodbye to joel. he is good peeps.
