Bikes and raccoons
Jun. 27th, 2010 10:30 pmI've exchanged some emails with my brother, and am going to sell him my road bike. Yes, my treasured road bike. The one that I bought from someone on Craigslist and then built up to my sweet, sweet racing machine.
Because of my knee, I just don't ride it anymore. On the other hand, my brother is doing all these crazy long bike rides on a triathlon bike, going up and down steep hills. On a tri-bike, you can't really move your hands around too much because it has different handlebars. So, I figure that he will use it.
I'll still have my city bike (which I bought when I sold my car back in early 2007) for jaunts around town. I bought it from Rick, who gave me a student discount even though I was not a student. Thank you, Ricardoban.
I really am glad that he'll get to use it, too. It's a cool bike. :)
I hope everyone had a great Pride weekend. I didn't get down for the parade, but I did do stuff with friends, ending up at a cookout at a gay coworker's place. He has a really contagious laugh, and it wasn't super hot like they said it would be today (not that the two are related).
Finally turned on the AC, too. It got muggy enough to need it. Ahhh... AC.
Last two things of today:
- Bought a city sticker for my car in advance of the "Hey, it's July and we're going to start ticketing the crap out of you," deadline. I sometimes used to forget to get a city sticker, and then I'd end up with one or two stupid $50 (!!) tickets.
- I saw a momma raccoon trying to carry a baby raccoon up a tree by carrying the baby in its mouth. Momma got half way up the tree trunk (about 6 feet), then dropped the baby. Baby was ok - just kind of sat there. Momma came back down, got the baby, then went back up (making it the second time). Probably the only time raccoons will be cute to me, but still.
