Feb. 11th, 2007 08:31 pmT-I-RED. I volunteered for a few hours at free geek chicago today. Not having a car means that I had to leave the house earlier and take CTA. CTA has been good to me since i got rid of my car. for the most part, i haven't had to wait inconceivably long amounts of time for a bus or train to arrive.
free geek was all right today - esp cos i got to meet
backburner. it was good to meet him. he worked on building up some PC's right alongside me. i built up three PC's today, but couldn't find the outer case for one of them . . . i don't know if that one will ever get used if it doesn't get a case-cover.
the last pc i built was actually a semi-old dell server. it was set up pretty sweet, though. dual pIII's, 1 gig of ram, scsi drives. neato. the group is running out of RAM, though. a lot of the PC's we get in don't have 256mb of RAM, but we try to use that much ram for the PC's that we put together. i don't know what we're going to do. we have a lot of 32mb ram chips sitting in a tray.
i worked at that place until 3:00, and then took the diversey bus to the brown line, to the red line, to the purple line to meet up with the B in evanston. she was there for a HighLife Adventure thing. some 3/4-drunk but mostly harmless guy said that B was "sparky." :) hehehe.
we were all out at Nevin's pub. it's an irish joint, and they really do try to be irish, i guess. they had a group of people who appear to just collect there playing irish jigs on all of their various instruments. the waitresses wear red plaid skirts. uniforms, i tell you!
now it's 8:44, and i'm tired. i guess i did a lot today.
