Updates from J1M:

I love the Onion's tidbit about, "What can we do to make the Iraq war more eco-friendly?"

I hung out with three neato livejournal users the other night, watching the Blues Brothers in Grant Park. I thought of mofus when the cop car with the cop motor and all of those other cop parts jumped over the open 95th street bridge.

It started to rain pretty hard when they started playing, "Sweet Home Chicago." Of course, we all stayed through the rain because we are tough, and the movie is super awesome. It seemed like about 2/3's of the audience stayed, too. I used my waterproof posenger bag to keep my head somewhat dry, but gave up all hope of maintaining dryness after the movie was over.

I drove everyone home after the display of awesome Chicagoness. On our way home, we stopped at the Jewel, the Toys R Us, the Pier 1, the Oldsmobile Dealer, went back to the Jewel, and then drove away quickly. I cut off a cop car on the expressway. Fitting!

The chic who loves violas commented that my seats would probably still be wet the next day because of our damp bums. When I exited my car the next morning, I could feel the dampness on my bum.

Ala LJ Person of Movie Love, here are my 3 things:
1) Elwood (Aykroyd) using the toaster in the pawn shop to make toast.
2) A car plummeting about 1,200 feet off of an unfinished overpass.
3) Cab Caloway performing in stunning whites, calming and then thrilling an angry crowd. After he finishes performing, they show him in his regular black outfit with black shades.

I found out that a guy I used to compete with in college speech team was once on The Dating Game. He does poetry now, and I'm on his email list for books and performances and stuff, and his publisher has a "channel," on youtube now. So I checked it out and found this.

He is a pretty charming, cool dude. I totally dig the woman's metal arm band, too. I remember once Derrick set his interp book on fire at a speech tournament. You aren't supposed to do stuff like that, but I think he totally won anyway.

Oh, neato, he also worked for a while as a Gondolier and got to be on Blind Date.

must watch this just to hear the announcers say, "car." wasn't there an SNL skit where they made fun of that accent?
